This year’s event will feature an evening-long reception (heavy hors d’oeuvres stations, soft drinks and cash bar) with a program to highlight and induct this year’s honorees.
Sponsorships, donations and ads are also being accepted in support of the celebration. These opportunities are open to businesses, families, and individuals who want to make a difference for students and educators. Sponsorship details are here.
If you have not attended the Maroon & Gray Society Celebration in past years, make plans to be there this year with your family or a group of alumni friends. It is the perfect venue to enjoy a mini-reunion and reconnect with your Little Lion family!
In addition to celebrating our 2023 Maroon & Gray Society Class, the event serves as an important fundraiser for the foundation. In previous years the event has raised $50,000 or more to help fund ‘beyond the budget’ items such as:
- New uniforms for the marching band
- Seed funding for the Mental Health Matters Fund, which continues to grow and impact students across the district with critical programs
- Grants for innovative, teacher-led initiatives and important classroom equipment and materials, available through the Mardi Lowry McDonough ’87 Student Opportunities Fund
Proceeds from this year’s event will be designated to the Richard M. Bunnell ’49 Memorial Fund to help fund student extracurricular opportunities across all grade levels at every school in the district. Read more about Dick’s life and dedication to SCASD students and why his family has chosen to honor him with this impactful fund.
Enjoy reading the short biographies of this year’s honorees. They each express their pride in receiving this honor and share their advice for new generations of students.
One Response
I’m so excited to be attending this year’s Maroon and Gray Society Celebration in honor of the Schempf siblings, three truly worth honorees. State High has produced so many outstanding graduates and all-around good citizens. My husband and I are glad we can do our part to support the Society and the Bunnell Memorial Fund as well. Congratulations, John, Paula and Pete–can’t wait to see you!
