The event features an evening-long reception with a buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvres stations, soft drinks and a cash bar. As always, the highlight will be the induction of this year’s Maroon & Gray Society honorees with short video highlights of their lives and accomplishments.

Current students also play key roles in making the evening a success, furnishing the space with their artwork and providing musical entertainment. The State High culinary program will once again provide its delicious desserts.
The event supports students in SCASD schools with a donation of all proceeds to the Education Foundation’s Mardi Lowry McDonough ’87 Student Opportunity Fund & Grant program. Distributed in the fall and the spring every year, grants from the program have funded nearly 150+ proposals submitted by teachers and administrators at every school across the district. In total, nearly $225,000 has been awarded, thanks to the generosity of donors.
Grants have funded everything from EMT exam applications to sensory items, from STEM equipment to a classroom care closet, and even the unified bocce team. Every project makes a direct impact on students. The number of grant applications has increased significantly, with more than 100 requests totaling over $100,000 in the most recent cycle
The event is a fun and relaxed way to benefit students and enjoy an evening with the SCASD community, recognizing this year’s honorees:
