The Class of 2000 Memorial Fund for Mental Wellness took shape in 2025 with a twofold mission: to honor late members of the class and to help fulfill mental health needs within the State College Area School District. Launched in conjunction with the class’s 25th reunion, the fund has received attention from local media outlets as the class’s 25th Reunion is fast approaching.
Developed by the class in collaboration with the SCASD Education Foundation, the permanent fund operates as part of the foundation’s overall Mental Health Matters Fund. Specifically, proceeds from the memorial fund will go toward mental health initiatives that reach across the district — priorities such as faculty and staff training, awareness programs, curriculum and direct services for students in need.
Check out these news stories on StateCollege.com, WPSU, and WTAJ. News about the fund was also shared on several local radio shows, with visits from Education Foundation Executive Director Paul Olivett and Class of 2000 alum Adam Smeltz.
Thanks to the Class of 2000 for honoring your classmates and celebrating your reunion with this act of generosity toward students!
