“Everyone contributed to an undefeated season.”
1973 State Championship Little Lions Football Team
The 1973 State High Football Team came together to form a cohesive squad. They were more than just guys playing football. They exemplified talent, strategy, consistency, dedication and hard work… they were a true example of what it looks like to be a team. The team finished 10-0 and were the Conference and State Champions.
“The 1973 Football team was truly a team. Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores, coaches – everyone bought in and contributed to the undefeated season,” Scott Yocum shared.
The team roster consisted of Kent Homan, Ed Boal, Paul Kanagy, Dennis DeLong, Tom Kerr, Norm Frye, Bo Ellis, Joe Rainelli, Matt Suhey, Harvey Hoffman, Ray Agostinelli, Larry Campolongo, Pat Snyder, Bruce Shaeffer, Chris Sefter, Sheldon Rider, Ned Eldrige, Mike Toretti, Allan Fulmer, Tim Gambocurta, Tom Basler, Dan Hopkins, Bill Curley, Scott Yocum, Tom Kistler, Craig Coder, John Sefter, Tom Fox, Dave Harris, Greg Smith, Gary Ellis, Clay Singletary, Chris Hoover and Paul Suhey.
Jim Williams coached State College during their undefeated season. After four years as an assistant at Bellefonte, he revitalized the Little Lion program in 1969. His eight-year record was 65-13.
“Team members are excited to get together at the Maroon and Gray Society Celebration and are honored to be inducted. It should be a great night,” Yocum said.
My congratulations on achieving this outstanding accomplishment.
I hope you have an enjoyable time reliving those moments with your teammates.
