In addition to impacting their educational experiences in high school and college, participation in the International Baccalaureate program can help to shape a worldview that benefits students in their careers and their lives. You can read more about the program in this article. A scholarship fund is helping to make sure the program and its assessments are accessible to all students, regardless of their financial circumstances. You can support the scholarship fund here.
Students can sign up for the full program or take IB courses a la carte. Like AP courses, the IB program offers assessments that give students the opportunity to earn college credits. Fees for assessments can total $700 for students doing the full program. The scholarship fund has been established through the Education Foundation to make sure the opportunity is available to all interested students.
Contributions to the SCASD Education Foundation through Pennsylvania’s Education Improvement Tax Credit program helped to fund the launch of the IB program. Now in its fifth year as an IB World School, State High is one of only 23 schools in Pennsylvania and the only local high school offering the IB Diploma Program for 11th and 12th graders.
The IB organization offers a curriculum to students all over the world with a global focus and a style of learning that is more student-driven and inquiry-based, giving students more agency over their experience. IB offers a different style of learning. While it’s advanced like AP courses, it’s more focused on individual student growth and exploration of content.
Contributions can be made here by selecting the IB Program from the fundraising campaign dropdown menu or by check. Checks can be made payable to the SCASD Education Foundation and IB Program must be written in the memo line (see Give Now page for address).
Thank you for considering this opportunity to help students reap the full benefits of the IB Program!
