10th Anniversary Featured Fund: Athletics

Generations of Little Lions have enjoyed the proud legacy of State High Athletics, learning leadership, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Thanks to two generous alumni, there are new upgrades in the works for our athletic programs. Keep reading and find out how you can make an impact on our student-athletes.

From football to field hockey, soccer to swimming, our district offers a range of opportunities for student-athletes to compete at the highest levels and enjoy the friendships and fun that are hallmarks of high school sports.

Alumni of our athletic programs who experienced these benefits firsthand have been generous supporters of athletic programs, most notably as donors to major facilities projects like Memorial Field renovations.  Two of these loyal and dedicated donors who made significant commitments to Memorial Field recently committed to new projects to support our student-athletes.

  • Larry Beans ’62, lead donor to the Memorial Field renovation and an alumnus of the football, baseball, and basketball teams, has committed $150,000 to fund a new scoreboard in the gymnasium, benefitting sports like basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and bocce.
  • Galen Dreibelbis ’52, a State High wrestling alum, has committed $26,500 for improvements to the wrestling room.

Their contributions directly benefit State High student-athletes by funding these projects that are beyond the district budget. “Larry and Galen have shown a true commitment to giving today’s students and future generations exceptional experiences in athletics,” said Education Foundation President Duane Bullock. “We are so grateful for their continued support and leadership in this area.”
