Larry Beans ’62 Commits $1 Million to “Beautiful, Iconic” Memorial Field Project

It’s been sixty years since Larry M. Beans ’62 walked out onto Memorial Field as a quarterback for State High, but he said that the memory of Friday night football remains one of the most vivid memories of his life. “The crisp air, the lights, cheerleaders, the band, people in the stands—it was magnificent.”

Growing Readers at Radio Park

In 2019, a grant from the The Mardi Lowry McDonough ’87 Student Opportunity Fund and Grant Program helped Radio Park Elementary students celebrate March Book Madness. Created by second grade teacher Mary Robert in 2018, March Book Madness is a literature-rich, community-building activity.

Easterly Parkway Grant Project Designed to Maximize Learning by Meeting Basic Needs

“State College Area School District wants to prepare students for lifelong success through excellence in education. If children’s basic needs are not being met, they are not able to fully benefit from the excellent education our district provides,” said Carissa Walter, School Counselor at Easterly Parkway Elementary School.
