From Happy Valley to Silicon Valley: Young Alum Launches Her Own Luxury Beauty BusinessDid you catch the recent CDT feature on State High alum Chloe Alpert? Chloe hopes to launch a manufacturing facility in Centre County for her latest startup, Savonbox, which creates and sells about 300 luxury bath and spa products.

As CEO of her own business just seven years out of high school, Chloe credits much of her success to her experience within State College Area School District. She says, “I was the type of student who was never satisfied inside a classroom, and I can directly correlate my success to being given the opportunity to try so many different things. I learned how to succeed and fail. You learn to make the right choices by making the wrong ones first.”

Featured Organization: Technology Student Association Takes First Place in Multiple CompetitionsThe Technology Student Association (TSA) is an academic competition which spans many fields of technology, design, and communication. Nationwide, TSA supports over 230,000 students in 49 states. The competition proves an engaging environment for students to learn technical skills, present their projects, and learn the intricacies of modern technology. With events in computer-aided and architectural design, students get the chance to immerse themselves in all aspects of design, including budgeting and physical model construction. Teams from all over the state and country compete and gain valuable experiential knowledge along the way.

SCASD Recognized at PSU’s MLK BanquetSeveral SCASD schools and faculty members were recognized at the annual Penn State Forum on Black Affairs (FOBA) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Banquet.

Congratulations to Debra Daggs (pictured here), Learning Enrichment teacher at Mount Nittany Middle School, who was honored for her work with "Roots of Life," and to award recipients Gray's Woods Elementary and State College Area High School!
