It was a profile of a student she taught many years ago, accomplished vocalist Danya Katok.

School to School: Students Feed Students with Sustainable ProduceFarm to School is great, but School to School is really amazing. Check out this student-grown lettuce that is being served in the school cafeteria.

The produce is part of Jake Lyke's biology class which is exploring aquaponics (a combination of hydroponics—growing plants in water, and aquaculture—farming fish). The fish produce waste, on which the bacteria feed and turn into nutrients for the plants—creating a natural ecosystem that can be managed in a greenhouse.
